How Do I know What Is Legitimate And What Is A Scam?
I shared in my last post that there are legitimate online opportunities and some that are not. If you’re like me you get a constant bombardment of junk mail ranging from lonely housewives wanting a fling to Dear Beneficiary scams to various job opportunities online. As I check my email I have found six different job opportunity offers.
The first online opportunity’s headline reads, ‘want 6 million people anxiously sending you $6 each?’. Just reading the title reminds me of the pyramid schemes with the chain letters that were around about ten years ago. When you get inside they tell you that on the third day of ’sharing’ a website (business website) that they only had to pay $6.00 for. It goes on to say: “On the first day I received 8 payments of a total of $48. The second day I receive 99 payments totaling $594.00, and on the third day I received 99 payments, making a whopping $1662!! I am now on my sixth day and have already earned a total of $2106 (and growing). . .” If it was that cheap ($6.00) and that easy, don’t you think that everybody would be doing it and making a fortune?
Then there is the ‘job opportunity from home’ where you get to join their team and get started with complete instructions and guidance with 17,000 companies. Once you log in you can type for different companies with a data entry job. You can also be a certified field auditor, home typist, data collector, data researcher and mystery shopper. And all you have to do is join the membership site for only $49.95. More than likely you probably won’t make the money back that you invested into this scam.
You will find plenty of get rich quick ads that tell you that you can make $50,000 a month working just 60 minutes a day and tell you that within the first week their bank account started to receive cash payments by sending visitors to their site and then made a ton of money. Now, I need to clarify the above statement. There are Internet gurus who do make this kind of money and more. They have been in the Internet business for years and have started out losing money and learning from their mistakes, putting in hours of work and determination to get to where they are at today. But, unfortunately, many of these get rich quick schemes have you believe that you, a newbie, can do it overnite and without a lot of work or setbacks. In the end, the newbie becomes disillusioned and discouraged, giving up and losing money in the process because they haven’t made instant, easy cash.
There are other offers to watch out for who promise that you will make lots of money. For example, I get offers like online success Google kits or online business kits. If you want to make money with Google go to their tutorial websites that teach you the ins and outs of selling online. These tutorials are free and you will find them very informative on how to sell successfully with them. Kits are a ploy for you to buy their product in the hopes of making money. If you surf the Internet for information and do your homework you will find all the information you need, and more than a kit can offer you. And it’s free.
In my next month’s post, I will discuss how to find the legitimate online offers that are out there and what it entails to start a business on the net.

I find it hard to trust any of these ‘make money online’ ads I see. I’ve heard of how some people got scammed by some of these rip off artists and lost a lot of money. I’m curious to read your next article on how to find honest online (or offline) business opportunities.
