Does This Sound Like Your Life?

I awoke from a restless sleep at 4:29 a.m. with anxiety suddenly pulsating thru my body.  I closed my eyes just to rest but I couldn’t go back to sleep, knowing the alarm would go off at 5.  I would occasionally look at the clock with time winding down to the dreaded “456″ as I called it.  When the clock struck 4:56 I got up to turn the alarm off so as not to wake up my wife. The anxiety and dread increased as I showered, put on my clothes, ate and began my 40 minute commute to a very stressful j-o-b  (just over broke).  This sequence of events reminds me of the movie “Groundhog’s Day” with Bill Murray where it happens over and over again, where it never seems to end.

Does this sound like your life?  How many of us feel enslaved to the alarm clock, the morning commute and the j-o-b day in and day out?  How many of us wished we could have more control over our own lives?  To live out our dreams of going to exotic places, having a nice car or the house we have always wanted?  To be financially independent!

In the July 2009 edition of Success magazine there is an article titled,  The Time To Prosper by Amy Anderson.  In this article she quotes nationally syndicated radio host and  Success columnist Mel Robbins who uses the term “the recession mindset”.  He continues by stating, “Maybe it’s the words: recession, depression,  collapse, layoff. They’re very powerful words, powerfully depressing.  And we hear them all day long.  They dominate the news.”  Mr. Robbins continues, “If you have the right mindset (change your mindset), it simply doesn’t matter what the market does.”

Later in the article Ms. Anderson quotes Robert Kiyoaski,  best selling author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad states “entrepreneurs who break away from typical jobs and create their own sources of income are in the best position to weather an economic storm.  They aren’t dependent on upon a boss or the economy to determine their annual income.  They determine it.”   It goes on to say that the U.S. Federal Reserve survey showed that the average household net worth for entrepreneurs were five times more than that of the traditionally employed.

In fact, many successful businesses have been created during recessions (as well as the Great Depression) and have become power houses in their own right.  Now, is the time to seriously look into starting a home business on the Internet.   There are many legitimate opportunities out there!  There are also some that aren’t.  You need to do some research into the different opportunities available.  Anything that advertises getting rich in 30, 60, or 90 days are ones you want to stay away from.  Or if they say get rich with minimal effort are ones to stay away from as well.   I will go more into detail in my next blog.

Good article! It sounds similar to my life - the alarm clock, the commute and the j.o.b. I think I will check out the Success magazine you mentioned. Thanx 4 the sharing!
